NIGHT OWLS. The band defies description. A rare blend of seasoned musicians playing a mix of “Classic Rock”, “Roots Rock”, “Rockabilly”, “Southern Rock”, “Folk Rock”, and even a little “Reggae” and a few originals thrown into the mix as well. Night Owls play the tunes you don’t hear every day. A common comment during a Night Owls performance is, “I LOVE that song, I haven’t heard THAT one in AGES”. It’s not just the songs themselves, but also the arrangements of the songs that set Night Owls apart. The tunes are instantly recognizable and danceable, and yet, somehow there’s something joyously different about each of them. Four of the five members sing, so they love their harmonies, and all are fine musicians as well. Essentially, it’s “Classic Rock” with the feel and freshness of an “Originals” band. A rare blend indeed!

Who's Who - Band Biographies

Roger Carmody: Keyboards & Vocals
Self-taught musician, Roger Carmody, came to music largely through his song writing. Having written and recorded
his first song at the tender age of eleven, he's amassed over 200 tunes since. He's recorded 15 "albums" in his
home studio, often playing most of the instruments himself (though few recordings have been made available to
anyone in past years but to family members and close friends, his music can now be found at
www.rogercarmody.com or www.myspace.com/rogercarmody and CD Baby). Roger "dropped out" of the music
scene in 1984, after 18 years on stage, to simply write and record. He took a "day job" with the telephone company
and has recently retired. Now writing and performing again in Night Owls, he's come full circle to the music and
stage he's always loved! When asked for a line or two for these little bios, Roger quoted Oscar Wilde's famous
theory on living. "Life is too important to be taken seriously." Known for his sense of humor, the quote fits him
to a tee.

Robb Scott: Guitars & Vocals
Robb has been playing music professionally since 1969. After leading a progressive rock band at Needham High,
he discovered jazz at Boston's Berklee School of Music. This led to a stint on the road with several top show
bands. He then spent his time honing his guitar chops on the Boston rock club scene. Robb took a break to study
computer and audio technology and scored several films, before moving to the North Shore. There he got back into
performing live again with various local bands, and NOW is the musical table setter and virtue-oh-so guitarist for the
legendary Night Owls. The story goes that, when the band was forming, and an ad was placed in the papers for a
"lead guitarist with vocals", Robb left a simple message on the phone saying, "I'm the man you're looking for." ...
right, as always!

Kim Allyn: Drums
A "drummer's drummer"! An "endowment of accentuation, dexterity and artistic competence!
"...Huh? Whaaat? New England raised, Kim Allyn is a seasoned drummer / percussionist and
veteran studio musician of 35 years. He has, in the past, worked with some of Boston's finest
professional acts (including "Carmody", formed with fellow "Night Owl", Roger Carmody). At an
early age Kim studied privately with Ralph Eames, and embraced rudimental drumming. Cultivating
his discipline from various marching drum organizations, he quickly emerged as one of the more
exciting 'trap set', jazz, R&B and rock drummers on North Shore music scene of the 70s. Kim's
homage also includes some varied experiences in 'long-hair' establishments such as the Middlesex Wind
Ensemble and Melrose Symphony Orchestras. After a "brief" 20-year hiatus from performing (while working
in the "real world") he returns to his first love, music! Kim brings his solid rhythm and dynamic
influence to lay down the back-beat for "Night Owls" diverse repertoire!

Rory McKenzie: Bass & Vocals
This Cape-Ann-Man is, literally, a North Shore legend. Simply HAVING him in Night Owls immediately gives
the band extra credibility (not to mention a solid foundation for their sound). Ask him to play jazz. There
it is. Ask him to play country. Yup, that too! Rock? Funk? Disco? Celtic? Yiddish? You NAME it, he's
PLAYED it. Mention a song. There he goes. He's got the bass part DOWN. Kinda makes you laugh with wonder. Oh
yeah, by the way, he also SINGS. When we asked him to say a little something for his web-blurb he sent the
following in an E-mail. "PARADIGM; People think that just ANY baboon can play bass. That's WRONG. It takes
a very SPECIAL baboon to play bass!" ... Now WHO can argue with THAT?

Bob Mitchell: Guitars & Vocals
Bob "Mitch" Mitchell's striking tenor vocals and searing guitar have been heard from the stages of some of
the best and biggest music venues in and around Boston and points north for many years. Much like Roger Carmody
and Kim Allyn (also in Night Owls) Bob "stepped back" from the music business for a spell. Now, once again, up
on the musical stage where he was born to be, Bob is a driving force behind Night Owls vocals and unique sound.
When asked to describe himself he simply replied, "Bad-ass Mama's boy"... Okay... Let's leave it at that!
